Sports and sporting events are so much more than just throwing or hitting a ball.  It’s more than just the points that are scored.  It’s bigger than the athletes that play and the fans that watch.  A sport or a team is the one single thing that can bring nations together for a common goal.

Sports give us the chance to connect on a personal level with strangers no matter the differences that exist.  They fill our hearts with hope and give us the ability to dream big.  And, lately, the world has been active with several high-profile sporting events:

  • Nadal won his 9th French Open and 14th overall Grand Slam to tie Pete Sampras for the second most of all time.
  • The LA Kings won their second Stanley Cup in three years.
  • Jimmie Johnson started winning again and picked up his third win of the season and his first win ever at Michigan.
  • The unknown Gregor Polanco got a hit in his first six major league games including a two-run homerun in the 13th inning that, which won the game for the Pirates against the Miami Marlins.
  • Martin Kaymer dominated the US Open, shooting -9 and winning by 8 strokes.
  • The World Cup kicked off with dramatic fashion in Brazil.
  • One of the greatest rematches in NBA history occurred between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs.

Millions have turned in to be a part of the history that has been made in recent weeks to cheer on their favorite team and players.  The games and matches are full of breath-taking moments and memories that will last for generations.

So when you sit down and watch your next sporting event and history is made, be sure to soak in the moment. Lock those memories deep in your mind and remember how it felt when your team made the game-winning shot, the walk-off home run, or the last-second touchdown pass, because it will be something special to look back on later.
